Did you know that exercising is as good if not better than giving antidepressants to help depression?
Recent studies show that activities such as walking, jogging, and strength training can significantly improve mood and overall mental health—especially in young adults. In light of four tragic suicides of young adults in the Roundshaw area, we at Integrated Neighbourhood Teams have launched a new service focused on supporting mental health through exercise and open conversation. By offering regular group walks, simple workouts, and a safe space to talk, we hope to foster a sense of community and belonging for those who might be struggling.
The Church will be open from 6pm. Here, you’ll find like-minded individuals, free refreshments, and the chance to speak openly about any challenges you may be facing. Our hope is that by combining the proven benefits of physical activity with a friendly, supportive environment, we can help prevent further tragedies in our community. Whether you’re feeling low, looking to make friends, or simply want to stay active, this initiative is for you. Together, we can make a difference—one step at a time.
These sessions are delivered in collaboration with Wallington INT, Wallington Community Wellbeing Charity, St Paul’s Church and The Proper Blokes Club.
